UJ Writing Center Logo

The UJ Writing Center will be open for both face-to-face online appointments. However, because of COVID-19, we are encouraging writers to choose online appointments. Our online system allows for video conferencing, instant messaging, and document sharing. For more information on our COVID-19 safety protocols and instructions on how to make an online appointment, please watch the following video:

If you choose to schedule a face-to-face appointment, we ask that you take the following safety precautions for your safety and for the safety of our writing consultants:

  • Writers and consultants are required to wear face coverings (masks, shields, scarfs, etc.) during all face-to-face appointments.
  • Please wash your hands or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer before your appointment.
  • Writers and consultants should sit at opposite sides of a table, separated by a plexiglass barrier.
  • Please do not share a printed copy of your writing with your consultant. Instead, you can upload a copy of your writing assignment or draft to your appointment, or you may share a link(s) to a Google Doc of your writing so you and your consultant can view and make notes on the text together.

The UJ Writing Center will follow all guidelines and requirements set by the UJ administration, and this list of safety measures is subject to change.

We look forward to working with you on your writing this semester! If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the writing center director Dr. Danielle Clapham at
